The set for combined spinal and epidural anaesthesia allows to carry out a spinal and a continuous epidural anaesthesia. The set contains the following components:
- 1 pencil-point needle (Whitacre type), length 118mm, 25G for code 6186.052 and 27G for code 6186.042 with transparent hub and stylet. The hub of the stylet is colour-coded: orange for 25G needle, grey for 27G needle. A black mark on the needle indicates that the spinal needle is about to protrude beyond the back eye at the distal end of the Tuohy needle.
- 1 Tuohy needle with transparent hub, metallic stylet, removable wings, 80mm long, 18G. The hub of the stylet is colour-coded: Pink (18G).
This Tuohy needle features a "back eye" at its distal end, allowing the passage of the spinal needle. Note: the spinal needle protrudes through the distal end of the Tuohy needle by 15mm.
- 1 syringe for loss of resistance technique (10ml)
- 1 Peribax epidural catheter 20G, 90cm long (material Pebax), with closed tip, 3 lateral eyes and flexible distal end. Supplied with a catheter guide. The catheter has graduations every cm and a black mark to indicate that the epidural catheter is reaching the bevel of the epidural needle and is about to penetrate in the epidural space.
